Anthony Murphy

A talented outfielder out of the powerhouse Corona high school in California, Murphy has long been known as one of the more talented defensive outfielders in this class for a long time. He has a chance to stick in center field at the next level, where he's shows off great reads and an above average arm. Murphy is also an above average runner who isn't afraid to swipe a bag and go and get it in the outfield.

From the right side of the plate Murphy employs a balanced, relaxed swing. He's a bit of a swing tinkerer who can have some inconsistencies with his front foot and his setup. Murphy has had a good amount of trouble with swing-and-miss as a result. His bat-to-ball skills on the summer circuit where below average, and he expanded the zone a ton. Murphy's offensive profile will definitely need to take good strides forward if he hopes to hear his name called on day one. Murphy has some sneaky raw power and has had streaks where he's showed off solid feel to lift the ball. Murphy will be slightly old for the class, 19.3 on draft day.
