Dowd transfered away from USC after solid years at the program. Now at Florida State, he's seen some of the chracteristics of his profile tick up in a meaninful way, now being talked about as a potential top 5 rounder.
Dowd has an ultra-selective approach at the plate and rarely chases outside the strike zone, allowing him to draw plenty of walks. He has flashed some pull-side juice, though he sticks to hitting the ball hard consistently, working to both gaps to garner extra-base hits. Dowd has flashed above average bat-to-ball skills, he's exceptional at hitting velocity. Breaking balls can at times be a concern for him.
Dowd has shown off 55 run times, and has held up solid throughout his time in center field for Florida State, though some see a more likely outcome where he shifts over to right field.
