Caden Ferraro
Scouting Report
Ferraro is one of the data darlings of this college class. After making the transfer from Blinn College (JUCO) to Texas Tech, Ferraro has been one of the hotter hitters in the country. While the slash line is intruiging, his under-the-hood metrics so far this year have been eye-popping.
Ferraro is making tons of contact this year with above average bat-to-ball skills. His chase rates are similarly well above average. Ferraro knows when to pull the trigger and do damage. Even in two strike counts, he doesn't get ancy and instead takes what he's served. The exceptional swing decisions are allowing Ferraro to walk at a rate north of 20% so far this year. Ferraro's exit velocities may be more impressive. It's plus raw power and loud bat speed. Even more impressive is Ferraro's contact quality. He's hitting the ball hard, and he's hitting the ball hard often. The only flaw to really poke at in his offensive game is that most of his hard contact comes on a line, which has limited his homerun total so far this year. Still, Ferraro may just be one of the more sneaky well-rounded bats in the entire draft class.
The only big question marks in Ferraro's game come on the defensive side of things. He's spent most of his time at DH for the Red Raiders, though he has played in the outfield in the past. Given the offensive skillset, it's likely that first base is where he ends up long-term.
Ferraro only has one year of division 1 baseball on his resume and he's not the most dynamic athlete or defender. That being said, you simply can't ignore what he's doing so far in 2026. If this torrid pace continues, Ferraro has a chance to be a top 100 pick.
