Evans has an explosive pitch mix headlined by a power fastball that’s already been up to 99 mph, consistently living in the mid 90’s with above-average carry. He's added more arm-side run to the pitch over the course of his college career, and also started throwing more of a sinker variation as a sophomore.
Evans’ opted for throwing a harder upper-80s cutter as his main glove side offering in 2026, a pitch with tight shape and some lift. The changeup here has a chance to be special, diving off the fastball tunnel with fade and tumble away from left-handed hitters. He'll also sprinkle in an average curveball.
If there’s one thing to really pick at with Evans it would be with the way he moves. It's stiffer movement patterns with slightly below average extension and strikes that have wavered at times. He'll have to sure up teams on his ability to hold down a starting role and throw strikes if he hopes to hear his name called as early as some think in 2027.
