Brunson was drafted in the 18th round by the Diamondbacks coming out of high school, but ultimately elected to head to TCU, where Brunson has quietly become one of the more well rounded players in all of college baseball, boasting a strong blend of average to above average tools across the board.
At the plate, Brunson swings an extremely heavy barrel. He turns quickly with his hips and utilizes the ground extremely well. Brunson has shown off strong in zone contact and strikeout rates throughout his time in college, and he'll limit his chases to an average rate. Throughout his time on campus, Brunson has become more physical, telling by improving power numbers year after year. While Brunson mostly utilizes a gap to gap approach, he's peaked with exit velocities north of 110 mph, and there's the potential for the power to develop into an above average tool with some slight tweaks.
In the outfield, Brunson plays an above average center field, showing great range, strong reads, and an above average arm. He's one you'll want to keep in center field as long as you can, and if he moves off to right field he'll be a plus defender there. Overall, Brunson has the ceiling of a top 20 pick, especially if the power grade takes another jump. He'll be turning 21 around the time of the draft, so he'll appeal to models as well.
