Cole Prosek
Scouting Report
Few in the country had as loud a spring as Cole Prosek. He absolutely annihilated Mississippi high school competition, putting up video game numbers in doing so. This combined with a solid summer circuit showing has Prosek being talked about as a potential top 50 pick.
Prosek has one of the more distinguished hit tools in this prep class. He seems to perform wherever he goes, and that he has done against some of the top competition the country has to offer. Prosek is simply looking to hit and do damage when he's up at the plate. It's an agressive aproach, but Prosek fights pitches off well and does what he can with what he's given. Prosek has a quick, fluid left-handed swing. He creates good space in the box and stays on plane well with his upper half. Prosek gets high remarks for his feel for the fat part of the bat. It may be one of the best pure hit tools in the prep class. There's sneaky feel to lift the baseball, especially to the pullside, the power projecting as an average tool moving forward with the potential to grow into an above average tool down the line.
Prosek was viewed in large part as a future third baseman following the summer, though he's been catching some this spring and there are people who think he may start off there in pro ball. A lot of the value here will come with bat, but it's a very, very good one.
