Stone is one of the best movers in the 2027 class with extension that has been measured at 7.4 feet on Hawk-Eye. It's a premium starter's frame: broad shoulders with long limbs and some projection still left to dream on.
Stone is up to 96 mph, but will more commonly live in the 92-94 range with his fastball. It's a pitch that Stone throws with down-hill intent, he backspins the baseball well and gets plus carry. While his heater lacks velocity that will blow away hitters at this stage, Stone has the look of someone who could sit in the mid-90s one day. Paired with his absurd extension down the mound, it's pretty easy to envision the pitch ending up as a plus weapon in the future.
Stone's best secondary at this stage is likely his changeup, a pitch that falls of the table and gets tons of vertical separation of the heater despite resting in the mid-to-upper 80s. It's a wicked secondary, a plus pitch that can look devastating when Stone locates it low and to his arm-side. Stone also throws a tight, hard gyro slider in the upper-80s that he'll deploy mostly against right-handed hitters. It's a pitch that bridges the rest of his arsenal well. Stone also mixes in a low-80s curveball with two-plane break that he'll occasionally flash.
Stone throws strikes at a slightly above-average clip and shouldn't have trouble remaining in a starting rotation moving forward. It's fun traits to dream on.
