Lascelles has some of the better bat-to-ball skills out of any prep bat in this class. It's elite hand-eye coordination, and a simple, smooth left-handed swing that has done nothing put produce for him throughout his amateur career. Lascelles has already found success against pro arms with the Canadian national team, he's hit at every stop.
From the left side, Lascelles sets up from a crouched, narrow base, coiling into his back side before lunging forward. He's an ultra-adjustable hitter who does a great job of covering all quadrants of the strike zone. There's very, very few holes in his swing. You honestly wouldn't be crazy to slap a future plus on the hit tool. Lascelles is still growing into his body, though he hasn't slugged much to this point in his amateur career. His groundball rates will tend to get bloated, with most of extra-base hits being slapped doubles in the gap. Lascelles is a plus runner who can really fly around the bases. He's the type of pesky hitter who could anchor the top of a lineup for years to come. How much more the power develops will be indicative of his cieling.
Lacelles has clean footwork actions in the infield and solid range. Fringe-average arm strength may ultimately force him to second base as a profesional. Lascelles will be 18.4 on draft day, on the younger side of the class. Should the physical traits start to pick up, Lascalles could hear his name called on day one. The Yale commitment will be something to watch, it could be a tough sign away for a team if he's content on making it to campus.
