Kleinschmidt was a breakout star for Oregon State in 2025, pitching to the tune of a 3.56 ERA across 17 starts, while racking up 113 strikouts in 91 innings. He was a crucial part of what got that team to Omaha, and looks to be another one of the top arms in the rotation come 2026.
Kleinschmidt has whippy arm speed and a clean, starters delivery. It's a strong, workhorse-like frame, though there's still some room to add a few pounds. Kleinschmidt's arsenal is headlined by a fastball that generally lives in the low 90's but has peaked at 95 mph at times. The pitch performs well despite a lack of velocity, mainly due to possesing strong carry and some tail away from right handed hitters. Kleinschmidt's sweeper is probably his best offering at the moment. It's a huge shape with near 20 inches of horizontal break at times, and it looks the part of a future plus pitch with some added velocity. He dosen't utilize his changeup as much, but it still has some strong tumble off the fastball tunnel.
Kleinschmidt looks the part of a future back of the rotation arm at the next level. He already looks like a day one pick, though a jump in velocity could do wonders to his draft stock.
