Giese has been a considerable helium name this spring, a bit of a pop up talent that has made his name well-known inside of scouting circles.
It's easy to fall in love with the way Giese moves down the mound. It's an athletic, synced operation with an arm that works freely. Giese throws plenty of strikes and well the stuff may not yet be the loudest in this class, Giese has a lean 6-foot-3 frame with plenty left to dream on. He's been up to 95 at this stage, and will hold in the 90-93 range regularly. Giese's best offering is by far his changeup, a kick-change he sells with fantastic arm speed that showcases some tumble and fade off the fastball tunnel. It's a future plus pitch. The breaking balls are more a work in progress, a shorter low-80s slider is the main one, a pitch he tunnels well off the fastball but that lacks outlier shape or traits.
