Gavin Kelly's game has kicked into another stratosphere over the past year. As the tools have ticked up, so has the performance.

Kelly is one of the more versatile defenders in all of college baseball, a guy who has split his time between both the middle infield and behind the plate while at West Virginia. He gets high remarks for his athleticism, and could realistically play long-term at either spot, though Kelly's framing will likely need some polish at the next level.

Kelly's offensive profile as a whole is exciting too. He's got a quick, compact right-handed swing that's simple and efficient. It's an uphill swing path with solid bat speed. Kelly makes strong swing decisions and features above-average bat-to-ball skills with some of the best feel for the barrel in the 2027 college class. Kelly rarely hits groundballs, with most of his best contact coming in the air or on a line. He uses both halves of the field, a large portion of his batted balls being to the opposite field in 2026. While Kelly isn't a hulking slugger, his feel for lifting the baseball has allowed him to tap into large amounts of his raw power and will at the next level, even if it does end up being just average. There's the hope he'll continue to unlock more bat speed as he adds physicality.

Kelly's defensive prowess, athleticism, and offensive floor could make him a future first-round pick.
