Graham Houston

Graham is the younger brother of Marek Houston, a Wake Forest standout and the 16th overall pick by the Minnesota Twins in the 2025 MLB Draft. Graham comes with some of the same polish to his game that made his older brother such a highly touted prospect.

Houston is a lean, wiry shortstop with a high waste and plenty of projection remaining in his 6 foot frame. He's a switch hitter who employs a smooth, direct stroke from both sides. Houston starts from a wider base, utilizing a short leg kick to time up. There's very little moving parts throughout the whole operation, it's an incredibly efficient swing that should have no problem translating against higher level arms. Houston is a decorated bat-to-ball artist with some of the best pure hit traits in the 2027 high school class. He's performed at pretty much every stop, with the contact skills to dream on a potential future plus hit tool. Houston tends to have a flatter path from the right side, and will flash a more keen ability to backspin the baseball when hitting left-handed. The slug is what most people will want to see Houston show strides in. He's relatively undersized, and has struggled to hit for much power in the past. He still flashes enough bat speed to dream on average game power should he continue to grow into his frame and mature, though the power will likely be the area of his game most closely monitored leading up to the draft.

Houston, similar to his brother, is an excellent defensive shortstop with the range and instincts to develop into a future plus glove at the position. He's got above average arm strength across the diamond that helps him make tough back-handed plays deep in the hole. Houston is also a plus runner. He'll be on the older side of the class, 18.9 on draft day. If you squint (and disregard the age) there's something of an Eli Willits profile here.
