Westphal has a chance to be the highest drafted high school player out of the state of Kansas since Bubba Starling went fifth overall in 2011.
Westphal sets up from the left side with a slightly spread, athletic base. There's some active rhythm in the box, Westphal waggles his hands before loading and creating big stretch in his upper half. Westphal then turns quick and tight through the zone with a flatter path. It's plus bat speed on this stage, Westphal has continually added muscle to his 6-foot-2 frame over the course of the past few years and now looks like he could grow into some serious impact. For the time being a lot of the extra base hits are doubles in the gap. Westphal has frequently run high contact rates and likely projects for at least anaverage hit tool at the next level.
In the outfield Westphal is a plus runner with a legitimate shot at manning center field in the long run, it's average arm strength. Westphal has flashed hints at 5-tool upside and could be the first prep outfielder off the board in July of 2027.
