Skelton has seen a considerable rise up rankings over the past calender year. It's offensive upside that's starting to show up in a big way.
Skelton starts from a balanced, upright setup from the right side of the plate. He utilizes a big leg kick to time up, gathering into the back hip, creating coil through the torso while keeping the head quiet and eyes locked on the ball. Skelton loads his hands back early on in the swing to a ready-to-fire position. It's big time bat speed from the right side of the plate, and exit velocities that have at times peaked north of 108 mph in batting practice. The swing has allowed for Skelton to get to his raw power in game aswell, with above average feel to pull and lift the baseball. Skelton has an agressive approach and has at times chased outside the zone quite a bit. It's still solid-average bat-to-ball skills, and the approach hasn't slown down his production to a concerning rate so far.
Skelton has played some shortstop in the past, though he looks best fit for either second or third base at the next level. He's a below average runner who dosen't posses tons of range, but it's arm strength to play anywhere on the dirt. Regardless of the defensive profile, if Skelton get's drafted highly, it will almost certaintly be because of the bat. Skelton will be 18.9 on draft day.
