Morton has some traits that could be a really fun project for a major league development system. He launches from a below average release height, up to 97 with a sinker that bores in on the hands of right-handed hitters. Morton gets plenty of ground balls when he keeps the ball down in the zone. Morton's best pitch is by far his 86-88 mph sweeper that features huge horizontal break, and spin rates well north of 3,000 rpms as times. It's a plus or better breaker. He can also flash and power changeup with solid vertical depth, as well as a cutter, though both offerings lag behind the breaking ball by a wide margin presently.
