Jack Radel
Scouting Report
Radel has been an impact arm for the fighting irish dating back to his freshman year, and only continues to improve season after season.
Radel is a fluid mover down the mound with an athletic operation. He generates some of the better extension out of any arm in the class, allowing all his offerings to play up. His arsenal is headlined by a low to mid 90's fastball that's been as high as 98 mph at times. He throws the pitch from a high slot with plus carry, and extension well north of 7 feet. He seems to be extracting more value out of the offering in 2026. Radel's main secondary is a sharp low 80's breaker with both depth and horizontal action. His command for the pitch has proven to be fringy at times, though it flashes some upside. He also throws a cutter that opperates more as a bridge pitch between the breaking ball and the heater. Radel has also worked to encorporate a mid 80's changeup, though he really only throws it against left handers.
Radel has a chance to grow into above average command along with everything else. His 2.3 walks per 9 in 2025 speaks volumes to his relentless ability to go right after hitters, not afraid to fill up the zone. If the arsenal takes the next step up in 2026, we could be talking about an early day one arm.
