Brown broke out in a big way in 2025 for the LSU Tigers. He finished the year slashing .320 with 8 homeruns and a .935 OPS, also playing a big role in LSU's ultimate push to win a national championship. Brown was highly regarded as a pitcher out of high school, though it's clear now what direction he's headed in. An already promising offensive profile has taken even further steps forward in 2026. Brown is now looking like one of the better hitters in the country, quieting previous concerns and building on the parts of his game that make him such a highly regarded prospect in the first place.
Brown sets up slightly open from the left side, utilizing a controlled leg kick to time up. Brown's left handed swing is smooth and fluid with a picturesque follow through. It's quick, it's efficient and it's geared uphill, allowing Brown to already tap into large amounts of his raw power. Brown is hitting the ball harder this year too, with fly ball rates that are allowing him to slug at a gaudy rate. What was previously seen as a solid-average tool is now looking like it could en up above average or better. Brown has mantained above average contact rates while at campus, all while chasing at an average rate. He's an exceptional performer against velocity. Spin, especially against left-handers has given him trouble in the past, though his whiff rates against breaking pitches have shown major improvements early on in 2026.
Brown has played a lot of right field at LSU, forced off by notable defenders playing up the middle, but he has the speed and arm strength that could give him a shot at playing center field profesionally. With strong performance in SEC play, Brown has the type of offensive tools that could profile in the first round.
