Jake McCoy
Scouting Report
McCoy unfortunately will miss all of the 2026 season due to a UCL injury that will require him to undergo surgery. Despite the fact, he should still garner notable draft attention.
McCoy's pure pitch traits are ones to dream on. He's shown great feel to spin the baseball, coming from an extremely low launch height. His fastball will sit in the low to mid 90's getting up to 98 at times. It'll flash exciting life up in the zone, and coming from a low height it will get on hitters quick. Mccoy's best pitch at the moment is a sharp mid 80's slider. It will eclipse 3,000 rpms at times, flashing plus upside. The depth will vary at times, but it missed bats at a solid clip in 2025. McCoy has toyed with a changeup as well, but hasn't shown great command with the pitch and inconsistent shape. If he hopes to reach his early round ceiling, it will be a pitch critical in establishing.
McCoy has flashed command woes at times, but showed off much improved strikeout and walk numbers on the cape. With improved control this is potentially a guy with two plus pitches under his belt. McCoy will be a name to watch throughout the season, and if he can show strides in command and performance there's a top 2 round ceiling here.
