Jaxon Willits come from a family with roots in profesional baseball. His father, Reggie, played in the big leagues for 6 years, and is now coaching at Oklahoma, while his brother, Eli, was recently taken number one overall in the 2025 MLB draft by the Washington Nationals. Unlike his brothers lean, athletic frame, Jaxon is more thickly built and matured physically in his lower half. At 6 foot, 208 pounds he dosen't have the athletic frame you'd typically see at the shortstop position. He projects more for second base as he continues to move up the proffesional ladder, though he's a solid athlete who can move a bit on the bases.
A switch hitter, Willits has a mature approach at the plate with a selective nature to his at bats, it's solid to above-average bat-to-ball skills from both sides of the plate. Willits can at times struggle with changeups down in the zone, but he's historically been a steady hitter against velocity. Willits doesn't possess much raw power, fringy at this stage, but he's got solid feel to pull and lift the baseball, allowing his power to play past what the exit velocities suggest. This is a high floor college bat with favorable baseball bloodlines.
