Jimmy Janicki
Scouting Report
Janicki is a physical right-handed hitter with one of the most potent offensive profiles in the 2027 MLB Draft.
It's a bit of an unorthodox set up at the plate. Janicki starts with his hands high and away from his body. He’s a no-stride guy even without 2 strikes, sinking deep into his legs before unloading with considerable bat speed. Janicki is an aggressive hitter who expands the zone more than you would like, sometimes leading to weak contact on the ground. Despite the aggressive approach, Janicki features above average bat-to-ball skills that have consistently been on display throughout his first 2 years at Troy. He's also maintained a strikeout rate under 14% throughout his career. Janicki is a masher, with exit velocities that have peaked north of 116 mph and feel for lifting the baseball that allowed him to slug plenty in 2026. It could end up being plus power, maybe 70-grade raw.
Defensively, Janicki played third base as a freshman, but shifted behind the plate in 2026. Despite at times looking a little unnatural back there, his defensive metrics are solid. He's an above average framer, with solid arm strength to pair.
