Volchko has seen struggles throughout his first few years in college ball, but ultimately has some of the better power stuff in the class. He'll be transferring away from Stanford to Georgia for the 2026 season, where he'll look to re-shape his arsenal and get a much needed change of scenery.
Volchko stands at 6 foot 4, 218 lbs with an athletic but strong body. He's struggled with command thus far, likely due to all the moving parts in his delivery. Despite this, there's a ton of potential with this type of arsenal and athlete.
Volchko is up to 99 mph at times with his fastball, a cutting pitch shape that has generated a ton of weak contact to date, but has generally struggled to miss bats. Volchko has great feel to spin the ball, there's two strong breakers here, each with considerable upside. There's a firm low 90's slider with strong bite that Volchko will get the most swing and miss with, and it's been his most effective pitch to date. He also throws a mid 80's curveball that he hasn't thrown as much, but shows off a strong depth and high spin rates as well. There's also a firmer low 90' changeup that he'll rarely throw.
Volchko's pitches don't differentiate great off each other, one of the main reason's he's struggled so far. Georgia will likely shift things around with his arsenal in order to find more success, especially with his fastball. If Volchko can truly live up to his potential this year, there's a first round cieling, as you can make the case that he has some of the best pure stuff in the entire draft class.
