Mason Edwards
Scouting Report
Edwards is a name that has really taken off this spring. He's been one of the most dominant arms in the country to start of 2026, with a scoreless inning streak that lasted an astounding 29 innings. Not only that, but Edwards is one of the leading punchout artists in the country. Through his first 30 innings, he's managing a strikeout rate of 46.4%. It's been utter dominance from the USC ace thus far.
Edwards is a smooth mover down the mound with an athletic delivery. He gets to a higher launch height that allows his stuff to player up due to some deception. The arsenal is headlined by a low 90's fastball that has at times touched 96 with huge vertical life and carry. The pitch gets plenty of whiffs and chases due to the down-hill plane Edwards creates aswell as an impressive amount of ride. His best secondary is a low 80s bender with slurvy break that he's shown a willingess to throw to both left and right handed hitters. He shows great feel for the pitch, and can manipulate the shape when he has to. The pitch is getting outlandish whiff numbers in 2026. Edwards can also turn over a solid changeup with some fade that he uses plenty.
This already a solid pitch mix, with three offerings that could all end up above average. The walk rate can get a bit inflated at times, but Edwards has proven that he can last deep into starts. He'll be 20.9 on draft day.
