An undersized southpaw armed with a fastball up to 100 mph, there are very few pitchers in the 2027 draft class with better stuff than Rhys Bowie.
Bowie is deceptive. He launches from a near 5 foot release and a wider angle. That type of funk allows for most of the pitches in Bowie's east-to-west arsenal to play up beyond what the average pitch traits would suggest. Bowie's leans on his fastball, a pitch that lives 96-98 and will touch triple digits. While the carry is below average, Bowie's launch allows the pitch to get over barrels, and historically he has gotten value out of the pitch. Bowie will also mix in a sinker and a cutter. The cutter will sit in the low-90s with sharp, tight shape and some lift.
Bowie's main secondaries are two distinct breaking balls, a horizontal low-80s sweeper and a two-plane curveball with huge shape. Both can flash above-average spin rates. There's also a seldom used changeup.
