Omidi represents one of the premium canadian names in this years draft class. His bat will be what drives his profile, but it's a very promising one.
Omidi is strongly build at 6 foot 2, 200 pounds with a clear physical look to him in the box. He sets up from the left side with a wider base, utlizing a big leg kick to time up. It's a short, fluid swing with some present hand speed. Omidi does a great job of stacking into his backside and staying behind the baseball, allowing for some natural loft that could allow him to get to some more game power. For now though, he does tend to hit the ball into the opposite field gap a lot, though it's clear he knows how to lift the ball. Omidi owns above average bat-to-ball skills, and rarely strikes out despite owning an agressive approach.
Omidi still has some skepticism surrounding where he'll play defense at the next level. He has played shortstop, though the actions and arm strength arm much more benefiting of a second baseman long term, and Omidi does run the risk of being moved to a potential corner outfield spot if he becomes even more physical. While he's not an elite runner or a great athletic tester, Omidi could still end up a day one selection due to the offensive upside.
