Ryan Cooney
Scouting Report
Cooney is a high floor college bat with exceptional bat-to-ball skills. He runs elite contact rates against pitches inside and outside the zone, and has a strong track record of doing so. His contact quality can be streaky at times (though improved this year), and he did show some swing-and-miss on the cape. Cooney has below average raw power, and will likely see his homerun output dip once he makes his way into pro ball.
Cooney has been forced off to second base due to Maddox Molony flanking his right, though he may have a chance to play shortstop at the next level. If he sticks at second base he's got a chance to be an above average defender there. Cooney also really understands how to use his legs. He's an above-average runner, who could be a stolen base threat at the next level.
