A name that burst on the scene for the tar heels as a freshman, Lynch made a loud statement this past year, posting a 2.93 ERA, establishing himself as a force to reckon with inside a loaded UNC pitching staff. While Lynch's stuff doesn't miss bats at the rate of some of these other arms, there's an intriguing starter profile here that you can't ignore.
Lynch is a strongly built right hander who moves well down the mound, getting to an extremely low release height. He'll sit in the low to mid 90's most outings, occasionally reaching into the upper 90's with an arm side heavy sinker. It'll get in on the hands of righties, generating plenty of weak ground balls. His best pitch, however, is a mid 80's sweeper with darting right to left action. It's a frisbee coming from his low release height, it's flashed plus upside as of late. He'll mix in a low 80's changeup rarely.
Lynch's delivery and body point to a future starter. He'll need to show improved feel for a third pitch, but it's easy to fall in love with the projection and present feel to pitch.
