Sims is a long, extra large right hander with one of the more explosive fastballs in the class. He's already been up 100 mph with big riding life through the zone. The arm talent here is tremendous, and there's projection here to dream on.
On the mound, It's exclusively from the stretch, more of a reliever look at the moment. Sims's best secondary is a short mid 80's slider that has shown to be effective to right handed hitters. While the spin rates on the pitch are just average, there's sharp darting action when he throws it well. Sims has also fiddled with a changeup, but will go some outings without showing the pitch.
The main concerns with Sims will definetely come with the control, as he'll tend to spray the ball at times, likely due to his long levers that he'll have trouble with syncing up. Sims will need to prove that he'll be able to start at the next level if he hopes to reach his early day one cieling, and continue to show development of both secondary pitches.
