Sean Dunlap

A strong, athletic catcher out of Indiana, Dunlap is as toolsy as they come behind the plate. It's a broad shouldered 6 foot 3 frame with long levers and big physical projection.

At the plate, Dunlap coils into his back leg using a big leg kick, drifting forward and firing his bat through the zone. It's every bit of plus, maybe even 70 grade bat speed that translates to some loud raw power. Dunlap has peaked with exit velocities well north of 110 mph in batting practice, showing off what could be plus or better power in due time. Dunlap's swing has a lot of moving parts, especially with his hands which can cause it to get out of sync at times. There's some present swing and miss here, likely a combination of the long swing and lengthy levers.

Unlike most long limbed catchers, Dunlap projects to stick behind the plate. He's got an above average throwing arm with some explosiveness out of the crouch. Dunlap is an above average runner too, one of the more athletic backstops you'll find at this level. The swing will require more polish, but Dunlap has every tool to be an early round pick.
