Taylor Rabe
Scouting Report
Rabe has been one the late risers in this college crop, but it's pretty easy to see why. It's rare to find someone with Rabe's power stuff paired with his plus command and willingness to pound the zone.
Long, lanky 6-foot-5 frame with broad shoulders. Rabe is an athletic mover down the mound with a short, repeatable arm action. He holds his direction well. Getting to the stuff, Rabe's calling card will be the fastball and that's, frankly, because he throws so hard. The pitch has brushed triple digits and will sit in the mid-to-upper 90s on a nightly basis. The pitch is at times a bit vanilla from a shape perspective, with not much carrying life and some arm-side carry. Being the power pitch it is, it's still been quite the effective offering for Rabe.
Rabe's best secondary at this stage is his sharp, tight upper 80s cutter. He tunnels the pitch well off the fastball. A slider and a changeup can also work their way into his arsenal as well. Rabe isn't the best spinner of the baseball, something that may limit him from a player development standpoint. Still, the combination of power stuff and plus command will make him an intruiging prospect.
