A wiry, athletic 6 foot 1 right hander out of Texas, Rangel has some of the more electrifying stuff in the 2026 class. Rangel gets into a high leg kick, coiling into his back hip and rotating to unleash a live arm. It's hard to find as an athletic mover, but there's some critiques with the mechanics as well. It's a lot of movement and efforty, causing his timing to be inconsistent, and Rangel to spray the ball in some outings. It's fringy control with some reliever risk but Rangel's stuff is hard to match.
Rangel will sit in the mid 90's with a fastball that will peak at 97 mph with life up in the zone. It will get on top of bats with sizzling spin rates, generating plenty of whiffs at the top of the zone. Rangel's calling card is a slider that will peak north of 3,000 rpms at times, showing off plus or better potential. There's late bight to to the pitch, consistently getting whiffs against right handers. Rangel also flashes an upper 80's changeup that he kills spin on but rarely throws. It's got above average potential. It's definetely not the most polished look, but there's tons of traits to like here with Rangel, day one upside.
