Head was the highest ranked recruit in NC State's 2024 class and ultimately ended up on campus. He'll be a draft eligible sophmore in 2026, and looks to build of a strong freshman campaign where he slashed .274 with a .433 on base percentage.
What immediately stands out about Head is the frame. It's a lean, athletic 6 foot 3 with plenty of physicallity still to dream on. At the plate, Head utilizes a smooth, fluid left handed swing, showing the ability to cover the entire zone and react well to fastballs thrown towards the inner half of the plate. It could very well be plus bat to ball skills, as Head maintained an in-zone whiff rate of just 9 percent in 2025, along with an astounding 4 percent whiff rate against fastballs. The holes in the offensive game can be poked in the power production, as Head's exit velocities where squarely below average this past year, and he only hit a total of 4 homeruns. Those bullish on the profile still think Head could grow into some more raw power considering the frame, and there is some feel to lift the ball to the pull side.
Where Head shines the brightest might be in center field where his plus speed plays in a huge way. He covers tons of ground and can make acrobatic plays on balls in the gaps, aswell as highlight reel homerun roberies. It might be the best outfield glove in the class when it's all said and done, a potential impact defender at the next level. The power may have to arrive in a bigger way in 2026, but Head has every tool to be a potential early round pick with a strong year.
