From a projection standpoint, it's hard to find anybody who rivals Spangler. It's a long, lean, 6 foot 3 frame with physical projection to dream on and plenty of present athleticism. There's polish on both sides of the ball here too, a distinguished hit tool and actions that suggest a long term home on the left side of the infield
Spangler has true potential to hit for both contact and power. It’s a smooth and undercontrolled left handed swing, as Spangler whips the barrel through the zone with easy bat speed. It's one of the purer swings in the prep class. Spangler plays with an extremely low pulse and a relaxed demeanor about him. He can work long at bats, showcasing an advanced feel for the strike zone and consistently posting some of the stronger bat to ball metrics in the class. The power has shown to be inconsistent in game settings, as Spangler's ground ball rates can get inflamed and he won't really get his barrel extended, instead letting the ball travel and staying the other way. Despite this, there's some pull side loft in his swing, and he's shown off loud raw power at times in batting practice. The power production will need to tick up, but it's a fun offensive profile to dream on given the projection.
In the field, Spangler looks like a shortstop should he not outgrow the position, his hands are soft, and he glides across the dirt, extremely athletic despite his long limbs. It's polished actions and impressive body control for someone with as long a frame.
