One of the bigger risers over the course of the fall, Yow might be the fastest player in the entire draft class. He's clocked 60 times under 6.2 seconds and home to first splits of under 4 seconds. It's every bit of plus plus speed with some even putting an 80 grade on the tool.
Yow's bat has really trended up over the course of the past year, he's added muscle to his 6 foot 2 frame and continues to show strides at the plate. Yow sets up from a wide base, leg kicking into a long stride and showing off quick hands through the zone. While Yow's exit velocities don't exactly scream power hitter, there's sneaky feel to lift the baseball and above average bat speed that forecast more impact on the way. Yow didn't exactly play in all the big name tournaments across the summer circuit, however in his small sample size he's been elite. It's an agressive approach but regardless Yow posted strong whiff rates while striking out at a miniscule clip. It's a tough offensive profile to evaluate considering the sample size, but those bullish on the tools see a ton of potential here.
Yow is still developing into what he will eventually become at the shortstop position, but his long strides and quick foot speed should allow him plenty of range to play the position. He's most likely fit to stick there with some instruction at the next level, but if not his speed will play more than great in center field. Yow is one of the premier athletes in this class, and could hear his name drafted on day one with a strong spring.
