Hailing from Tampa Jesuit, Andersen and his high school teamate Kaden Waechter represent two of the top high school arms in the entire state of Florida.
Andersen is an athletic, low effort mover down the mound with a durable 6 foot 4 frame. While his extension can at times be lackluster, the stuff here is already loud. Andersen has peaked at 98 mph with a fastball that flashes both carry and arm-side life. The pitch regularly holds in the low to mid 90's, though it can get hammered in some outings. Andersen's best secondary is probably a fading mid 80's changeup that he sells well. He'll also mix in a slower curveball that's been up to 80 mph, and a firmer mid 80s slider, although both probably need a little more refinement.
Andersen has the frame, operation and stuff to profile as a starter long-term. Continued development of the secondaries and some added extension could definetely help him in that regard. He'll be 18.5 on draft day.
